Holiday 2024 pitching & catching Camp w/ a Special Guest appearance from MLB Pitching Coach Pete Walker

Sunday/Monday December 22-23, 2024

In this two-day introductory class, pitchers & catchers will learn the foundations of pitching and catching. This entails a position specific dynamic warmup routine and movement preparation with an emphasis on understanding balance, mobility, and explosiveness.

Pitchers will participate in a structured throwing routine centered around fluidity, healthy arm actions, direction, use of the lower half and finish positions.

Catchers will participate in movements and drills centered around proper stances, receiving angles, blocking, footwork, and throwing as a catcher.

Each session will close with bullpens as pitchers and catchers receive instruction on how to begin translating their learning to the mound or behind the plate.

This class will be instructed by former collegiate pitcher and pitching instructor Grafton Angevine and CCRI catching instructor Kevin Fay, alongside a special guest appearance from Toronto Blue Jays pitching coach Pete Walker. Pete retired from Major League baseball as a right-handed pitcher after 8 seasons and stepped back on to the Major League diamond in 2012 to become the pitching coach of the Toronto Blue Jays, a role he has had for the past 14 seasons.
